Yerba Mate health tip #3

Antioxidants…One of the biggest catch phrases in healthy living and eating these days is antioxidants.  They are found in everything from leafy green vegetables to red wine and vitamin C.

Yerba Mate has a very high concentration of antioxidants.  Green tea is also high in antioxidants and coffee even higher.  It turns out that yerba mate, green tea and coffee have different forms of these important compounds.  The primary antioxidant group in green tea is called catechins.  In yerba mate, the antioxidant group is a little more broad and includes chlorogenic acid, B vitamins, and various amino acids.

Antioxidants are an important and well known part of a balanced and healthy diet, but they are not the whole story.  Every cup yerba mate contains antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids making it a pretty good way to get more of the good stuff while enjoying the experience.
